An art installation conceptualization and inspiration. I was pondering on an art applicable for a project, an industrial split level home in Tagaytay and Alfonso, Cavite. I was immediately inspired by the use of wood palettes following the wood slabs we recovered on site and seeing how this could be painted on wood. I want to pay homage to the trees and the birds that used to occupy the land where the house now stands.

Another source of inspiration is the space where it will be located, on the wall with the sofa and accent chairs that look like bird cages. Hence, the idea of birds painted on solid wood.

The initial jumping point of this installed art are the painted ceramic plates by artists
Molly Hatch from Todd Merrill Studio Contemporary, and commercially plates from Macy's and Illustration. The subjects are usually decorative, from fishes, corals, and florals; and they create a full image much like a collage or mosaic. I am envisioning stylized birds in geometric and colorful arrangement

For the inspiration on birds, I see art from Dante Terzigni from Cleveland, and also geometric shapes from Scott Partridge as inspiration.

The walls of the house are intended to be polished concrete and so we would want something contemporary and colors and patterns that would pop from the drab walls.
Object Installation Concept
My sketches for the Tagaytay house using slices of wood directly found on site. The birdcage lounge swing chairs will be hung from exposed trussed and “talk” with the simple sofas. I originally intend to use the planks however majority of the plank will be used for the dining table, shelves, and lavatory counter. I now see that I have to use thinner branches that are full. After treatment, could be installed artistically on the wall to play with the circular canvases of geometric birds.
